Military Update
A formation, unit name, rank, and tactic for the military such as Archery on the behind of squad, a unit name like 1th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Battalion and go on.
For the tactic, there will be a new category in culture for tactics.
Rank:
1 - General: He is the person who will make a strategy and the one who rules the whole kingdom army.
2 - Captain: He is the person who will get the command from the General and the person who will lead their battalion into the enemy field.
3 - Platoon Leader: Platoon Leader will get command from Captain and lead their platoon into the battlefield.
4 - Platoon Sergeant: He will be the person that will lead the squadron if the Platoon Leader dies.
5 - Knight: He is the one who will increase soldier morale, he will make every fellow friend on the battlefield has the power to attack the enemy.
6 - Soldier: Soldiers ar the most common rank in the army, they are the ones who will get on the battlefield before everyone else.

It would be very fun to see an expansion to the fighting/war/military aspects of the game, some new features could make them more interesting and chaotic to look at especially if there's multiple wars happening at the same time. -

Ba'alzamonAlso, what if complex tactics, like outflanking and surprise attack, were only available to Captains/general/leader based with high intelligence and war skills.

vampireWe have a military system:
Attack team and defense team (diplomatic / normal): take up quite a large budget, elite and people will flee to neighboring villages when the enemy arrives.
General (in line with military policy): all villagers have the obligation to protect the village, 1 group is the main force, cheap but economic damage (like the military service of Israel). -

vampireCavalry:
- soldiers go to the stable -> create a horse rider animation (when this unit dies, the horse dies)
- food consumption 3 times; move fast -> reach enemies fast, dodge arrows better
- since all operations are on horse -> can only kill enemies, destroy buildings worse, can't activate capture timer
Archers:
- soldiers using bows, usually kings, village leaders, generals
- consume arrows (1 metal block = 20 arrows), arrows and metal blocks can be produced and stored. Archers who used up the kingdom's arrows had to fight in close combat like infantry
- kill enemies, destroy buildings worse, can't activate capture timer
Infantry:
- soldiers without bows
- are the cheapest units
- is the best demolition force, activate capture timer -

Maxwell HayI love the idea of a powerful military being screwed over by an idiotic general making bad plans.

YeastusThis should include better weapons, vehicles, and buildings in my opinion
There should be everything from guns, to crossbows, to artillery guns
Later on it would be cool if there were blimps/zeppelins plus planes.
There could be battleships, aurcraft carriers, plus better medieval ships.
The addition of other military units and more modernized progression would also be cool for a military update -

InvestigatorI don't think they should add Modern or World war thing but Better Medieval ship and new range weapon like crossbow sound good.

ThingWithHorns123Armies should be larger for large villages, like imagine a village that takes up half of an iceberg world that has ~120 troops during peace? the culture can produce tons of soldiers as they have those perks unlocked.

Hallowknight09I think this a good idea but how would they code this into the game? And yea we need better battles

illager-armyI think that the generals/commanders, which are already in the game, could get their troops to fight better/worse based on their intelligence/military prowess. However having the knight and platoon things, should probably be in a mod, but not the actual game.

AlexTanks guns and nations can launch middle attacks. Also military vechicles and nations can create borders. And for the more elite and hoher power can have a navy up to 5 attack ships hat can be destroyed. And planes that can carry 1 bomb at a time, every nation can have only 4-5 military aircraft.A military weapons and equipment would be awesome

AndrésHonestly, I only agree with this post because I definitely think that formations and more advanced strategies should be added to the game. However, I also think that adding a bunch of ranks overcomplicates things too much.

TROLL-e2@Maxwell Hay yeah, worldbox's AI is pretty dumb. I was thinking of a military AI that is comparable to rts games like hoi4 or at least know when to defend. Legions (or divisions, dunno) can't split up, so a legion 50 strong men all attack on a city with no enemy soldiers, while an enemy legion attacks a city with no one defending. If maxim can't implement a smart AI, at least make the AI better. Can't stand a powerful legion attacking an empty city while a few hundred tiles away there's a smaller legion taking a city.

Professor ParagonI wank ranks with retirement. Retired soldiers get vet status and can become rulers.

InvestigatorI didn't expect this thing to be on top 10 suggestion after posted it, and I must agree that it's indeed overcomplicated for most part, so this post is to add and revise for what I think it should be alter.
For the rank structure and all, I believe it should be reduce to only 3 ranks. Captain, Sergeant, and Soldier. The reason for why I reduce to 3 is because adding more than that is kinda unnecessary. So let's rewrite it a bit.
Captain - Basically being 1 of the factor for how many soldier will be in the village. Depend on how many warfare stats he has, 1 soldier per 1 warfare. The captain will be the unit with highest warfare point.
Sergeant - Do basically what General doing right now in the game, the amount of subordinate depend on warfare stats that unit has.
Soldier - Basically a soldier that has nothing special.
Also, the rank will remain until they die. Any suggestion please kindly DM my discord or say it here, my discord is lnvestigator, start with L not I. -

PrehistoricPersonI would LOVE to be able to control an armies maneuvers or just have them smart enough to flank and other stuff, also siege weapons would be pretty cool

GiffygodIt would also be cool to see the technology of the civilizations to go up until the 19th or late 20th century.

BraksenkRank system seems kinda too indepth, but (assuming the guy who carries the flag for an army rn would be the captain)
General (1 per kingdom)
Captain (1 per army)
Sergeant (1 per say 5 or 10 soldiers)
Soldier
Equipment gets prioritised based on rank, soldiers try to stay fairly near sergeants so squads emerge
I do like the tactics idea
